AIAVA Position Statements

Together, with our members, we advocate for architects, the profession and the built environment at the federal, state, and local levels.

The Board of Directors of AIA Virginia has adopted public policies and position statements on an array of subjects that are important to our work, including:

  • civic engagement
  • professional development
  • regulation and licensing
  • diversity
  • environmental responsibility

Public policies are AIA statements of belief to policymakers, the public, and the construction industry on public-policy issues affecting the membership, the profession of architecture, or the AIA.  Position statements elaborate on public policies or apply them to specific conditions or events.

Meta Policy: Architecture profoundly affects people. The work of architects is essential to human well-being, and architects must embrace their ethical obligation to uphold this public trust.
